A Republic Park, East Bank Demerara resident appears to have narrowly escaped death by finding a grenade strapped beneath his car.

A police press statement said that Tarachandra Persaud of Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, was driving his vehicle out of his residence about 10:30hrs yesterday when he was alerted to an unusual sound coming from under the vehicle. On checking, he observed a fragmentation grenade attached beneath it.
The police responded and removed the device. Investigations are ongoing.
